Race 1

Onboard footage from HSCC Formula Ford 2000 race 1 at a very wet Brands Hatch.

Very spread out rolling start but some good dicing once underway. Near miss with the yellow flags half way through the race. Under pressure the whole race from cars behind me which you don't see in the video.

Hard to believe an FF2000 race would make it onto BBC Grandstand at peak time on a Saturday. I managed a pretty lucky second place but I was fairly happy with it, this was my first race in 12 months and my first ever on Slicks and Wings. In those days the great Murray Walker used to commentate on this series and I was excited at the prospect of just hearing him say my name. Sadly Mr Walker was otherwise occupied at something called the Japanese GP that weekend... so newbie commentator Tiff Needell was in the chair...nice guy but a lousy commentator!
